PROMOTER Dave Lander has finalised the 2017-18 season fixture schedule for his Lismore and Grafton venues.

Twenty-three meetings will be the combined total for the two tracks. The bulk of that number will be concentrated on Castrol Edge Lismore Speedway with 16 nights of racing set down, while Grafton, which commences its season on September 30, has set a seven meeting schedule concluding on March 30, 2018.

Lander has stuck close to the event fixtures that have worked successfully in past seasons. The annual V8 Dirt Modified Lord Mayor’s Cup is again the Lismore season opener (November 4).

The V8 Dirt Modifieds also will commence the Grafton season with the running of the Clarence Valley Spring Cup (September 30).

“Over more recent years I have set in place some major attractions which have worked when the weather has been on our side. I don’t want to move too far away from that calendar as the fans have become accustomed to seeing these major attractions each season,” Lander said.

The only significant change will focus on Speedcars with the omission of the much maligned World Midget Championship following an extremely disappointing entry list last season. The Speedcar Super Series annual round for Lismore has been retained, though pushed further back into the season with March 17 set in place.

One of the highlights will be the return of the 410 open Sprintcars which will again be a part of the 2018 Queensland/NSW Easter Sprintcar Trail at Lismore. After the 410s attracted a big crowd last season, Lander has again opted to take the third and final round of the series.

Wingless Sprintcars and V8 Dirt Modifieds will be featured prominently throughout the season. The Wingless, in particular, have a very busy schedule with a full season of racing at both circuits.

V8 Dirt Modifieds will make eight appearances at Lismore and will race on six occasions at Grafton.

In addition to the Lord Mayor’s Cup, the annual Mr Modified Series also will be contested at Lismore, with the opening round set for the annual Boxing Night spectacular, while the second and concluding Mr Modified round will be held on January 6.

The New South Wales V8 Dirt Modified Championship will be decided over two nights (January 26 and 27.)

The V8 Dirt Modifieds will conclude their campaign at Lismore with the final meeting of the season on April 28 when the Autumn Cup goes under the flag.

Other season highlights for the V8 Dirt Modifieds will be the Grafton Jacaranda Classic (October 28), the Grafton V8 Dirt Modified Christmas Cup (December 30) and the Easter V8 Dirt Modified Rumble at Grafton (March 30).

The 100 lap Wingless Australian Grand Prix will again be held held over two nights at the high time of the Lismore season (January 19 and 20).

The annual Wingless Roaring 40s has been set for the second meeting of the season at Lismore on November 18, while a Roaring 40s main event will be held at the Grafton circuit the following week (November 25).

After rain washed out attempts to host the Grenville Anderson tribute race for Production Sedans at Lismore last season, the prestigious event remains on the calendar for the 2017-18 season and will be held on December 2. The Productions Sedan Grand Prix, which also promises to attract a strong entry list, is set for Grafton on February 10.

Super Sedans will again be featured at Lismore, with their major race – the Trevan Ford Super Sedan Classic – listed for January 13.

The jet car will roar into action to open the Grafton season on September 30 and will also be seen in action on the night of the Speedcar Super Series round at Lismore (March 17).

Events with a heavy slant on family entertainment will be the annual kids’ Christmas party at Lismore (December 2) while the January 26 and 27 Lismore meetings will feature a massive fireworks display on both nights as part of the Australia Day celebrations.

All of the major support categories which have been regulars at Lismore and Grafton for many seasons – Street Stocks, Nationals Fours, Junior Sedans, AMCA , LTD Sedans, Compact Speedcars and Litres – will be featured during the upcoming season.
