MORE RACES ADDED FOR V8 DIRT MODIFIEDS
IN A bonus for race fans, promoter David Lander has included V8 Dirt Modifieds on the schedule for the final two meetings of the season at Castrol Edge Lismore Speedway.
This coming Sunday’s fixture (June 4) was originally planned as the season finale for the popular, wheel hiking Modifieds, however the additional meeting on the Queen’s Birthday long weekend (Sunday, June 11) will now bring down the curtain on the 2016-17 racing term for the division.
The extra appearance also helps compensate for a rain affected season in which a couple of major fixtures for the V8 Dirt Modifieds were never contested.
“The V8 Dirt Modifieds did suffer because of the wet weather and lost a couple of major shows on the original schedule for the season,” Lander said yesterday.
“I have tried to make it up to not only V8 Dirt Modifieds but all of our race car categories that lost out due to the run of washed out fixtures. We now have this coming Sunday and the following week for the V8 Dirt Modifieds. The same applies for all of our regular categories which will be involved.”
The V8 Dirt Modifieds will be supported on this coming Sunday’s fixture with racing for Wingless Sprints, Junior Sedans, Production Sedans, Street Stocks, National Four Cylinder Sedans and AMCA Nationals.
“We have seven divisions on the programme this weekend, while there will be even more race car categories added to the programme for the following weekend. That way all classes will get to race at our two upcoming end-of-season meetings,” Lander added.
In addition to the V8 Dirt Modifieds, interest this Sunday also focuses on events for the Wingless Sprintcars.
The local contingent are still competing for honours in their domestic northern club championship and all of the top names have entered.
David Eggins will be hoping to round out a very successful season over the next two weekends after he won the Wingless Sprintcar Driver to America series several weeks ago at the circuit.
Robbie Mazzer also has enjoyed a strong season and has entered for Sunday’s Wingless events.
Gates open at 11am this Sunday and racing commences at 1PM.
